A refined technique, a lovely tone, a sense of phrasing and being at ease on the stage: these are the essentials violin teacher Carmen Eberz aims to impart to her students.<\/p>\n

Carmen teaches the violin to children of all ages in Amsterdam, where her lessons take place once or twice a week on an individual basis.<\/p>\n

Carmen\u2019s pupils also perform regularly, always accompanied by a professional pianist. These occasions provide them with the opportunity to listen to other students, to discover new pieces of music, and to become accustomed to playing in front of an audience. These afternoon performances are open to the public.<\/p>\n

Once a year, Carmen stages a large ensemble project, giving her pupils the experience and joy of playing in a real orchestra.<\/p>\n

An important part of Carmen\u2019s professional activities include research on violin playing techniques and violin methodology. In 2012 Part One of her violin method Zo speel ik viool<\/a> (This Is How I Play the Violin) was published. Part Two was released in 2014.<\/p>\n

Today, Zo speel ik viool is the most widely used violin method in the Netherlands. Each year, over a thousand children start their violin studies with the first part of Zo speel ik viool.<\/p>\n

Part Three of the method is still in progress, and will be published in 2018.<\/p>\n

Carmen Eberz studied the violin at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Her teachers were Bouw Lemkes, Istv\u00e1n P\u00e1rk\u00e1nyi, and Natascha Morozova.<\/p>\n
